The Academy

So the new season is just around the corner and the qualification for The Championship is insanely tight! There will be some that do not make it and will battle it out in Rookies which will also be fiercely competitive. If you don’t make the main championship, there will still be class honours to battle which we still want to make a fuss of so things like podium graphics posted here, Facebook and the website.

With the new season comes the preparation for races. Last season we ran Race Idol to what was a great success with the majority smashing their goals out of the park and the majority of the final championship podiums in Group 2 filled by Idols. The feedback was mind blowing to be honest so this season we want to open it up a bit more and have some more resources made available so we are launching ‘The Academy’ – the main session on a Sunday at 5:30pm (UK time) will follow the championship calendar with track guide and race prep followed by a short race focusing on the race starts, pit entry and race craft. Having a look back at the replay and chatting through the good, the bad and the ugly getting everyone’s input and thoughts. I cannot tell you how much of a positive affect this has had on track.

There is an off week every two weeks on the calendar so those off weeks will have a dedicated session running covering specific things like racing in the wet, overtaking and defending, set ups etc. Getting to practice, for example, constant wheel to wheel racing in a set up session that is putting you under constant pressure, more than you would ever get in an actual race helps massively when it comes to when it really matters on race day. When you have done something enough it becomes second nature and making those split second decisions are then done from a calmer driver because lets be straight about it, in a race you have one chance and you either get it right or you get it wrong. These session are a lot of fun and are not just for the less experienced.

As well as all the on track bits there will be sessions away from the main one like livery making, pop up sessions if anyone needs with Awesome or any of the other software and apps that are used. So if anyone is a whizz with these types of things please drop me a DM and we can get you sorted to run a session or two.

We are going to put the first Academy session this Sunday, May 5th at 5:30pm. Although The Academy is open to anyone you still need to register and I want to have a quick chat so I can get to understand a bit about more about where you are so I can make sure we can cover off the things you want. Drop me a DM if you want to register.

Many thanks
Craig
